Loud noises were coming from the apartment upstairs—strong but not alarming.
I settled in to watch my favorite show: the ‘Dandy Danny Hour.’ I love darling Danny and his sly, pithy humor. He is funny.
Halfway through the show, the noise from upstairs had become loud pounding. I increased my volume. I still couldn’t hear Danny, and I had maxed out my amplifier. The pounding was unbearable. I needed my ear near the speaker to hear.
I decided to go up. I turned down my hearing aid, started out the door, and met a large, angry man holding a bat.
Funny story!
Keith’s usually the one that suggest alternative endings in the comments, but I couldn’t help but think that it would have been funny if they had both been carrying bats when they met. Thanks for the humor, Jack Spies. — Benita

Benita, thanks for the suggestion to make the story even more batty. I loved it.
