“I have this terrible tendency of throwing myself at every man I meet.”
“Then it’s a good thing I was a catcher in Little League.”
“This isn’t Little League.”
“I wasn’t a good catcher.”
“Do you want to buy a gal a drink?”
“I don’t think so.”
“That’s OK, hon. Tonight I’m just looking for a shortstop.”
“Playing the field?”
“Even when I’m hustling the batter, I’ve got my eye on the guy on deck.”
“I’ve always admired a team player.”
“You’re OK, you know that? Sure you don’t want to buy me a drink?”
“Can’t. I’ve got a game tomorrow.”
Excellent use of snappy dialog. Well done, Fred!
Very well done!!
A great little story all in dialog. Liked it!
Lovely story. Like the dialogue.
Oh dear! When I read a story like this I realise what a huge difference there is between UK and US English. BUT I am always very ready to learn. What is a “short stop”? I make Yorkshire pudding out of batter, and who is the guy on the deck? I assume this all has everything to do with baseball. Am I right?
