“Let us pray,” says the…priest? Preacher? Father? Leanne is new here, so she has never been sure of the terminology.
She closes her eyes and ducks her head, relieved no one can hear her thoughts.
Okay, God, let’s do this…I am out of vegetable oil…no, this is not the time. Pray, Leanne.
She peeks one eye open, hoping she won’t be noticed. And she isn’t. Everyone is either good at faking it, or they’re really connecting. They make it look so easy.
Bzz. Her phone vibrates. In the spirit of mindfulness, communion, etc., she ignores it. She tries again to pray.
Very relatable character and scenario. We’ll done, Grace!
Thank you Grace, I like the way you led me connect to the Lord then showed me how to disconnect from the world of electronics.
As her phone vibrates, ringer off in consideration of other supplicants, so may her heart vibrate as well!
