I picked her up last Thursday outside the theatre, probably during the second act.
“Where to, Lady?”
“East 60s.” She settled back into the corner.
“You’re out early,” I said. “Play no good?”
She didn’t answer.
Whatever.
When I turned at the park, and glanced back, she was gone! I stopped to make sure, thinking maybe she’d passed out onto the floor.
It’s happened before, believe me. But somehow she’d vanished. Maybe slipped out at a stoplight?
Weird.
Then tonight she was there again, hailing the cab ahead of me in line. Same dress, same theatre.
Next Thursday, I’ll be waiting.
i like the eerie quality to this one. i think he picked up a ghost.
Nice. Some of the language was a bit too casual, but maybe that’s the intention.
Very, very “Twilight Zonish.” I really liked the creepy feel it left in its wake.
Thanks everyone. I especially like the TZ comment!
