Despite the mug of tea in her hands, her fingers are chilled. Caroline unwraps one of her hands from the ceramic, curls and uncurls her digits, and feels the joints pop, pop, popping in the empty living room. She rubs the tops of her feet through thick socks, trying to heat up her cold toes.
David walks in, stamping snow off his boots. He turns and offers her a gentle nod and smile.
“Welcome home,” she says. Her lips turn up behind the rim of her mug as she takes her first sip, the liquid warming her from the inside out.
I enjoyed it, too, maybe we’ll get a part two someday
It paints a picture of a couple on a winter day who are just moving into their home …at least that’s what it led me to believe. Very good !! I wanted more…
