Tell the Bees

February 22, 2023 3 Comments

By Casey Jarmes

It was a lonely night, until it wasn’t.

The being appeared in the sky, so massive it hid the stars, so bright it was blinding. With hundreds of wings, bigger than countries. Colossal eyes covered its golden skin.

We stared up, every doubt of a higher power obliterated. The being spoke, in a language we’d never heard but at once understood. It spoke only eight words, but with that one brief message, we knew everything and yet nothing.

Your god is dead. You have my condolences.

It never returned. Since that time, we’ve been alone. Worse off, as we now knew.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

This is a neat story. We lost something we didn’t even know we had. Now that we know does it make a difference? Or does it make all the difference?
