Arthur only wanted to be seen as he saw himself: a man in love.
Again, the prosecutor spoke. “Mr. Webley?”
Wishing he could be invisible, Arthur answered.
“N-No, I hadn’t met the deceased before that night.” Reaching for careful words, fumbling every pass.
The D.A.’s voice hardened. “You are aware that perjury is a crime?”
“Yes, but—”
“Objection, badgering the witness,” the defense snapped.
The gavel cracked—silence.
Arthur, overwhelmed, trembled, guilt-ridden.
“I wasn’t following him!” he admitted.
“I was watching her…”
Brows raised.
“She didn’t even know I was there.”
Now all eyes saw him—and what he truly was.
Creepy! Very nice
Thank you!
