Newly emancipated from foster care, Jason sat in the café car of Amtrak’s Southwest Chief as it rumbled through the southwest. He quickly sketched the Masons, his last foster parents. Jason planned to draw as many images as he could remember from his ten years in care. By putting his memories on paper, he hoped to move to the next phase of his life with a clean slate.
A woman noticed him drawing and asked him to sketch her as a gift to her husband for their anniversary. She paid Jason fifty dollars for the drawing. “Now, you’re a professional artist.”
That’s so cool!!
Hey, professional writer. Congrats!
