She looked outside the window, pale and weak. She wanted to cry, but had no strength. Turning back, she saw the baby lying in the cradle, fast asleep. If only she could sleep like that, so peacefully. She stood with every last amount of strength she had and walked up to the baby, just wanting to hug her one last time. It was unfortunate for a mother to never see her child again, to never experience motherhood. It was all her fault. The child was illegitimate. She had to give it away before anyone knew and live with the guilt forever.
Great story, showing how unfortunate it is that having an illegitimate child is still, in some cultures, considered to be sinful, disgraceful, etc., etc. Give this one two thumbs up!
