The Beast

November 12, 2022 16 Comments

By S. Webb

Art revved the motor, feeling the sweet power of his ride straining at the starting line. His mechanic had done an outstanding job giving the beast a once over in the shop. Glancing over at his competitor, he held his gaze, steely eyed as adrenaline pumped through his veins. He lived for this moment. The challenge of the race, the excitement. The adulation of the crowd of women. Just as he was set to unleash the beast, an orderly rounded the corner and planted himself squarely on the track. “You guys were told to stop racing your scooters in the hall!”

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

My husband used to race cars and I pictured him being Art a couple years down the road. Thank you for reading and commenting.

Fun read but I doubt there was much adulation from the women residents. 😉
