Shafts of sunlight sneak through the cracks in the door. Instead of ferrying people across the river in my little boat, I am here in my bed feeling unwanted.
My guardian angel’s invisible hands grope about my aging face and wipe away the tears.
Even as the muffled shouts of revelry waft in from afar, a slightly admonishing voice reverberates around me: Don’t sulk, Maria. Life can’t remain static. Rivers must be bridged, even at the cost of a few hungry mouths.
Get up; wear your long-forgotten smile and join the rollicking crowd on the bridge.
Leave the rest to me.
Wonderful and well narrated.
Facts of life presented in a beautiful manner.
Unusual subject, well presented.
This story should prod, all
