I sprinted faster, my surroundings fading into a blur.
My pursuers, relentless, panting, gaining on me too quickly.
I didn’t know how long I’d been running, minutes feeling like hours, but I knew I wouldn’t be able to keep this pace for long.
The harder I ran towards the safety of the treeline ahead, the more out of reach it felt.
My heart felt like it would explode. They were closing in and there was nothing I could do.
I couldn’t breathe, I had to slow down, accepting my fate.
“Tag! You’re it,” they laughed. I began to count to ten.
Very nice suprise.
A really good build up and nice unexpected twist at the end
Thanks 🙂
