The Dog Stays

The Dog Stays

By Marjan Sierhuis

Due to our compatibility and communication issues, and after giving it careful consideration, I am terminating our relationship.

Effective immediately, I am resigning as your nurse, housekeeper, personal trainer, masseuse, psychiatrist, event planner, personal secretary, pedicurist, and ear trimmer.

Please do not text or leave messages on my cell phone, as they will be directed back to you.

Christmas gifts that include a skillet, food processor, beach towel, stuffed teddy bear, bracelet with fake pearls, packaged underwear in lime green, extra large Christmas sweater, elf socks, and bamboo back scratcher will be donated to a good home.

But the dog stays.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

I like the writing style. I know what’s coming , but it’s – wait for it, wait for it – then the punch line. And you delivered a great punch line. Thanks for a great story, this type of story is what keeps me coming back to 101 for more.
