The Husband

December 5, 2023 14 Comments

By CK Sobey

The man stood outside the diner staring, not believing what he saw. His wife was dead. He had murdered her! He went to her funeral. She was dead.

Yet, she was here in the diner one year later, bigger than life.

“Should I go in? What is she? What the hell am I talking about? She’s dead!”

After what seemed like hours, he made up his mind to enter.

Two other people were inside. He had his pistol; he could handle them.

He opened the door and stepped in.

Seeing her husband, the woman said, “Hello, Henry, welcome to my world.”

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
