I steadied my breath as I looked at her. She was lying on the floor in a pool of blood. Her eyes were begging me for mercy. I couldn’t meet her eyes. It pained me to look at her.
I pulled out my revolver and looked at her one last time. I had to complete the job and my first assignment. My hands trembled. I never knew the girl. All I knew was that I had to kill her. She was shrieking in pain. I aimed for her heart and pulled the trigger.
At last she was relieved of her pain.
