The Last Supper

August 14, 2022 8 Comments

By Angie

It was a decision he never thought he’d have to make. Stuck here for over 12 years, he’d lost all rights and also the ability to make decisions.

At first he’d longed for home comforts: a cosy roast lovingly cooked by Mum, Gran’s home-baked apple crumble with lashings of hot custard, or just a chilled beer with his mates. He realised long ago that it was better to forget than to desire what he could never have.

But not today.

When the guard returned, he confidently made his choice.

“Fish fingers, mashed potato, and peas with ketchup.” His son’s favourite dinner.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

If I understand this correctly, he is going to be hanged. What a poor silver lining a last supper is. Are you trying to incinerate my heart?!
