She had an inkling that she was dying. I found the list in her car when I was cleaning it up to sell. In her lovely, unrushed cursive, she had written, “People To Apologize To.”
I counted 22 names: all but three were familiar. One name she had crossed out. I knew it was not because she’d made the apology. She’d changed her mind.
I said I’d burn the list with everything else, but I didn’t. I put it somewhere safe. So safe I can’t find it now, and I can’t remember the names, except the one that was crossed out.
Your story was well written. I enjoyed especially the ending. Nice work!
Sad, but not. Mysterious in a way. Great story using so few words.
