The Lovers

Hands entwined in a modest though meaningful gesture. Palms rested upon the backs of hands. Lips touched in a language constricted to two. Gestures such as these made up the world, put on a shining gold pedestal for all to idealize, and interpret, and deify it as its own philosophy. How strange he felt when he figured that there were very few like him, who, clear and simple, felt repulsed at carnal and venereal contact. How strange she felt when she figured that others did not yearn for the same language as hers. Simple, yet critical indications. Simple, yet critical miscommunications.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

A simple story of a doomed love, full of (sad) anticipation. Nicely done

I believe “it” after deify is ungrammatical. Also, don’t carnal and venereal mean pretty much the same thing?
