“Now you’re on your own,” declared Mama, dropping a large, wriggling worm into the wide open mouth of the birdie.
“But, Mama, I can’t fly. How would I hunt food or dodge the crafty eagle?”
“Eagles have to eat too, birdie. Out there you survive by your own might and cunning. And eternal vigilance. Don’t you trust anyone, not even your mama.”
A sudden shove and the startled birdie hurtled downwards. She fluttered her wings frantically, leveled herself just before hitting the ground and then slowly rose toward the sky.
When she looked back, her nest was gone.
So was Mama.
Nice story. Reminds me of one of the quotes of Dr.Kalam “Difficulties in ur life don’t come to destroy u but to help u realise ur hidden potential and power.”
Thank you, Prabha.

Nice. Thank you.
Thank you, Raghu.
This story tells me that you too flapped your wings and are rising towards the sun. Good job.
Thank you, b. Just the sky, not the sun!
This would be a good read for President Trump.
Hope he reads it!
Your ‘flight of fancy’ needs to be appreciated. Loved the piece.
Thank you, Vijai.
Beautiful. It captures so much. It brought tears to my eyes. Literally.
A story of first flight into the real world. Loved it!
