Dusk was interrupted by hundreds of blazing red lanterns, their glow making any firefly envious. Music blared in the distance as wedding guests traveled from the lake back to the tent. Jokes were made about where the newlywed couple was. The party was in full swing, champagne pouring, children and adults alike dancing. The night was wrapping up when a woman ran in screaming; thinking a lantern had set fire, guests ran to the lake. Shocked party goers stood in silence staring at a boat fully engulfed in flames. A toddler teetered to the shoreline and pulled out a soggy veil.
A slice of darkness. I like it. Good job.
