I never wanted to be in a pageant, even though Momma insisted all the rich Mississippi farmers coveted a beauty queen wife. She would not quit so I caved and entered Miss Crawford County. On the first day of the competition, I stunned them all with my rendition of ‘Delta Dawn.’ At the end of the evening, we weighed on stage as the emcee announced our stats to the judges. After exceeding the limit by three pounds, I slipped on my poncho and sashayed down the stairs, smiling and waving at the other girls as I left out the front door.
It’s the little details that trip one up all the time.
great little story! I loved how she got what she wanted in the end.
Loved it… well written and shows how her determination won in the end…
