Morgan, concerned father of three, stared nervously at the uploaded file he’d spent days working on, entitled ‘No Free Speech Equals Fascism.’
Heart pounding in his ears, he moved the cursor to hover dangerously over the SEND button.
Images began flickering in his mind like playback of stop-motion animation.
Bloodthirsty Twitter posts, hateful headlines,
death threats to his children, rape threats to his wife,
vulturous journos picking away at his past,
termination of his employment,
knocks at his door.
Awareness returning, his eyes landed on the framed picture at his desk: beaming children, darling wife.
He sighed and pressed ‘cancel’ instead.
Wow I thought he would send but in his heart what was paramount is the peace he already had The freedom fighters journey so beautifully spun as he rests in his hearts mansion
so true goerge!!!
Post anonymously would be my advice but then I’m a scaredy-cat.
Trotsky was many things but a scaredy-cat? Nah
Sharp and neat. Great piece.
Ah, cancel culture.
“Fire” in a crowded theater. Don’t pervert “freedom”.
Wonderfully done!
Very pertinent. Do you think that anyone on social media has ever convinced anyone else to change their view on anything by means of a posting? Or is it like-minded people agreeing with each other for moral support? Perhaps we’d all be happier if we used social media only for ephemeral fun stuff.
