I never wanted to go to the Ball in the first place. My fairy godmother insisted, and poof! I was dressed in flouncy frills with glass slippers on my feet. Glass slippers? Have you ever walked in glass slippers? The woman is a sadist, I tell you, especially when she said, “It’ll be fun! You must dance until midnight.”
So at the first chime of 12:00, I took off like a bat out of hell, away from the pompous Prince, kicking one of the so-called slippers aside and keeping the other one to remind myself to never trust a fairy godmother.
