My hands trembled as I held the treasure box my grandmother always hid from me.
Whenever I tried to peep, she caught me.
I wondered what secrets lay inside.
Perhaps a map to hidden diamonds or photos of her past lovers.
Now, with her passing, I could finally uncover the truth.
As I slowly opened the box, my heart raced, and my breath caught in my throat.
I found a tiny piece of paper.
‘I caught you,’ it read.
Typical her.
I chuckled in disbelief, realizing some mysteries are best left undiscovered, holding their true meaning in the silence of memory.
Ah beautiful story very well written
Thank you for this story. I’m always amazed when a gifted writer can make me feel so much in so few words.
Well-crafted and with a touch of humour. Nicely done.
Beautiful, warm story. A joy to read.
Lovely story. Like the grandmother’s sense of humour.
Well written with an ending that made me smile.
