“You’re allowed to grieve for a life that’s now lost. All the plans and what ifs, all the things left unsaid. All the hopes and dreams,” she says, edging herself off her seat, eyebrows knitting.
I look up, trying to blink back the tears. A feeble, “I know” escaping my lips.
“It’s sometimes hard to remember the good when the bad was so strong. But for a time, both of you shared your hopes for the future ahead. And that’s something you will never forget.”
The tear finally falls, and I take a deep breath. “Thank you. See you next week.”
