As she did most nights, Beth watched the late news before pulling a sweater over her graying hair. She stepped out into the darkness. Looking up at the star-filled sky, she stood on the patio and spoke with him, told him about her day.
The nightly routine kept her connected to him. Knowing he was up there, knowing she would have these few minutes with him each evening…
Before going back inside, Beth blew a kiss skyward. She would always regret his choice, but she was proud of the role her son was playing in mankind’s first trip to the stars.
