As Onome battled to give her speech, she couldn’t believe she had survived the divorce, shame, and ridicule brought upon her by the only man she had loved all her life.
She tried to hide an obvious tear, but it was too late.
The auditorium was filled with both familiar and unfamiliar faces who cheered her on.
She scouted for her childhood friend and confidant, a major tool in this great achievement.
She didn’t look directly into anyone’s eyes but with a tearful voice managed to end the long night.
“Thanks for this Babatunde.” She felt she owed him her life.
Triumph!
Lovely story, Monyks
