Sometimes in the small hours of the night, when the veil between worlds is thinnest, I remember. I rest my hands on the bars of my squalid cell and stare down the infinite rows of blocks just like it. A voice, like a whisper from the bottom of a well, reminds me. Only my mind is here, in this prison. My physical body is elsewhere—some squalid room in the ‘real’ world—hooked up to a bank of cables as I serve out my thousand-year sentence in this illusory nightmare. And in the morning, when the torments begin anew, I’ll forget.
The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler
September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific
If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.
Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.
In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
Nightmares can become too real.
Oh my goodness. Very powerful.
Very powerful..
Oh dear ! Very powerful !
Deep and profound. I loved it. I even came back and read it a second time a few hours later.
Congratulations!
