His accomplice leads Major Omari to an inconspicuous location in a remote town—a laundromat outfitted with a technological marvel. It looks like a broken-down dryer to the unsuspecting patron, but to Omari, it’s his ticket home. With the assassination complete, he’ll head back to a world hopefully no longer on the brink of extraterrestrial warfare.
“You’re a hero, Omari.”
Omari opens the dryer door, removes the panel, and climbs inside. His accomplice activates the controls. As the generator hums, Omari grieves for his heroic wife—a descendant of the victim. The woman he’ll cherish for believing in the greater good.
Great imagination Charles, an absolute thought provoking story. Seems to create an emotional reflection of past, present and future scenarios.

Ooh, mind bending! I like how much is off the page and yet the reader understands all he/she needs to know!
Nice comment Lynn, thank you.
What a snappy sting in the tale! Nicely done.
