Tired

February 18, 2024 3 Comments

By Oliver Hasten

Is it too much of a shame to lie here until I decompose, with my skin growing one with the rusted spring mattress below me? Yet, that is merely a fantasy, for I must pry myself from the ever-so-comfortable position every waking morning in order to supply myself with the funds to fuel a landlord’s bottomless pockets. It’s torturous, this life. Yet, I would never upright dispose of such a gem as myself. But, if I can hasten the process of my inevitable death, then no one can look down at me, critiquing me on my inability to manage this world.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
