End of the month again…routine…day in…day out, 2015, 2016… Like glaciers crawling. Slow. Inevitable.
I lay motionless in bed. Staring at the ceiling…listening to the hum of the ancient, pre-digital alarm, unset. Waiting for each page to flip, signifying another minute gone by.
The toilet flushes upstairs. She is awake. The rush of water, wait for it. There it is. Shower begun.
Now, I get up and flush my own toilet.
Did it impact her pressure? A sudden burst of hot water? Did she notice? Does she know it was me?
That would make this day complete.
Nice story. Thanks for sharing.
Yearning, despair, hopelessness. Well done.
This tale is a perfect way of saying, If you don’t have the courage to introduce yourself, you’re doomed to forever shower alone. Good story, Glenn.
Would be better without the opening para which added nothing. “Slow. Inev.table>”
Small victories … nice capture ,,, well done.
