All my life, it seems, people have told me: you’re very balanced, you know that? Laid back. Chill.
They appoint me straight man for their jokes, ear for their woes, designated negotiator with cops, beard for illicit love affairs.
They like me around, they say, as an antidote to the crazy ones, the horrible bosses, the filibuster friends, the drama queens, the whiners and bitchers and moaners. The poor losers and the over-the-toppers.
But they’re going only by what shows. They don’t know that just below the surface is this guy who goes home after and writes all the shit down.
Loved this – my little brother was Token Sane Man and always said he had a strong urge to kill them all in their sleep one day just to surprise them… he’s a criminologist now.
Like the story, especially the ending.
Ha ha ha … laughed out loud … One should know when they are dealing with a writer, their secrets may not exactly be safe.
I failed to connect, but we’re writers, right? Introverted or not, we write.
Great read, made me laugh.
Oh, Damn! What did I tell you!
Love this! Well done!
Who told you about me. LOL
