Tourist Attraction

June 2, 2022 3 Comments

By Jandee Song

They think they’re being sneaky, but they’re so clumsy I can’t help but notice. For instance, the one in his fifties, ducking behind a car across the street. Until now they’ve been older—seniors. Will I make a breakthrough in a nearer future to move my schedule forward?

I step through the security gate, making sure it’s locked. I spot another one—early seventies, with a camera—hiding around the corner like a little rascal. Hoping to capture the moment of my breakthrough?

Bloody tourists. They’re like groupies, these future versions of me. Don’t I accomplish anything after inventing time travel?

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

I think the paradoxes of time travel are always fun to play with and I enjoyed this story.

I enjoyed this and the vision it conjured of all these inept versions of his future self creeping around. Good fun!
