He reminds himself that it’s best to lie still. When her fury passes, she’ll love him again.
She’s so wicked but he needs her.
She grabs his throat and the room starts to blur.
His breath stutters from his lungs. His eyes twirl, furious in their sockets. His pulse bulges through elastic veins.
Then he can breathe.
The room comes back into focus.
“Everyone thinks you’ll kill me,” he whispers, “but I don’t think so.” He reaches for her. “I’ll quit before then.” He presses his lips to her and sparks the lighter. He ignites another rock and inhales her again.
Beautifully written. Nice twist at the end! When I started reading, I was expecting another cliché story, but I was in for a surprise. So much packed in just 101 words. Marvelous point of view, I assume all addicts see their addiction as a lover, twisted or not. Good job!
Thanks, Cristina! Glad you liked it!
Power packed, beautifully crafted.
Thank you, Ved!
Jen, you’ve provided a great personification of the crack as a “wicked” lover. And nice movement from the suggested rough sex @ the beginning to the inhalation of the rock.
Thanks. The idea came to me during an episode of “Intervention”. Those poor souls sacrifice so much for “one more taste”.
The 101 format is ideal for trick/twist endings–and this one is TOPS!
Thanks Bobby! Love this format! The word restriction forces precision. LOVE it.
Excellent!
Great job, had me going, thinking it was a vampire
Great job on this story. Perfect Flash in my opinion!! I love the reveal at the end. A++
