He buys a supermarket bouquet and, pecking her cheek, gives it to his wife.
After he goes to work the next morning, she throws it in the trashcan.
He buys white roses from a subway vendor and gives them, with a hug, to his wife. The couple stand silent in the living room.
Again, once he’s left for work, she empties the wilted blooms into the trashcan.
In the dining room, he gives a pink potted orchid to his wife.
The orchid sits on a bedroom table, the next morning, when the wife lies in their bed with the trash collector.
Great ending line. Loved it!
