Unleashed

By Paula Edwards

Why can’t she learn to walk on a leash?

He powered his way up the stony trail while she lagged behind, sniffing flowers or staring at the lake. The fox watched them contemptuously from the ridge. He tried to drag her forward, but she stumbled. She was useless in a hunt.

No matter. There was a spot ahead where he could trip her up and make her drop her end. Then he’d be free to hunt alone.

Even with her poor eyesight, weak sense of smell and two legs, she’d manage to get home alright.

He’d meet her there at sunset.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

I think I am getting a different impression from your story than others are, but that’s one of the things that is cool about it. I enjoyed it and thought you used the title well.

I read and re-read the story. Really a poem. Many meanings. Trust?

Enjoyed your efforts. This can be followed easily, even without a need to spell out who the players are. Lee
