By Albert N. Katz

I phoned my Aunt Elizabeth upon hearing that Patrick, my gangster Uncle, had been murdered. Elizabeth, usually quite flighty and fragile, was remarkably composed, though she had no notion how she would survive financially. “Don’t worry, Stephen. Patrick visited me this morning and told me that all would be well.”

I didn’t believe in ghosts, but if she conjured up a way to be reassured, so be it. Unlike her I had no idea how things would work out—until that evening when Patrick visited me. “Sorry, kid. You have to take care of Elizabeth now. Better do it. Or else!”

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

I think he is just faking his death and moving to Sicily where he will go by Pasquale.
