Wasting Time

Wasting Time

By Adrian George Nicolae

Time. It sure passes by in the blink of an eye. Sometimes you want to be productive, and next thing you know, you’re wasting time on a website.

I was the same. Days and weeks went by, and I was like a zombie.

Work, sleep, eat, repeat.

One day, I decided to see what it would be like without food. I drank whiskey, and ended up spewing my guts on the street (and in the ambulance).

I don’t remember anything after that. My body was numb. It was dark when I woke up. The stench of vomit lingered.

What a waste.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

“Work, sleep, eat, repeat.” It’s an all-too-familiar concept. So good to see you productive, Adrian, rather than ‘wasting’ like your MC!

Seems like a super-painful way to try to be productive…but I for one am guilty of “surfing the web” instead of writing flash fiction–or any other kind. Good job, Adrian.
