By Mae Bell
Seven weeks in and the scale hasn’t budged. I hold back a sigh and the tears that want to flow. The guardian of the scale averts her eyes, glancing at her manual of helpful tips.
She finds something, I guess; her head lifts and she says, “You’ve come now for seven weeks and that shows perseverance. Not to mention maturity and determination. It will happen.”
I breathe deeply, I want to believe her, I want to lose weight. Maturity? I feel like a child without Christmas. Determination? I’m doubtful. But she’s right; I’m still attending. Still looking for the lighter me.
My solution was to stop weighing myself. I enjoyed reading this story.
I feel your pain. Very enjoyable story.
Mae Bell, I am assuming this is fiction – not your own personal story (which is super-effective, BTW!). But if it *is* your own struggle, and you would like to find some solutions, I do have a true story, and would be happy to share some things that worked for me with this kind of journey. They might work for you, too. Feel free to contact me: shoshaunashy@gmail.com
Really like the way you bring the reader into this intimate journey, I feel the struggle! Great use of words, quotes, keeping the reader in the immediate moment 🙂
Who’s peeking over my shoulder at the scales???
