The sun was a rusty penny behind the clouds, its tarnished light illuminating the dried field and abandoned gravel paths. Across the plains, far in the distance, a dust devil gathered pace.
In the center of the dead grass, two bodies detached from one another and lay on a woven coverlet. Their sweat sheened an avid orange in the light and soaked through to the fabric beneath. Drenched with each other, the taste lingered.
They panted in harmony, staring into the sky as the sun parted from the clouds. Both wondered if anyone else in the world felt so utterly complete.
Beautiful story and I loved the description – I could really imagine being in that field.
Amazing description. Great job!
Beautiful imagery
Great story. Very descriptive.
Lovely story, brilliant analogies.
Loved the colour in this. Rusty, tarnished, orange. Very vivid.
