Whispers

By Jen HQ

He’s dreaming now. My best friend. We had such a great day. I need to tell him the truth. I will. Eventually. I’m terrified to imagine how he’ll react.

Three little words.

They’ll change our relationship. What if he leaves?

I’d just die.

When he introduces me to others they look right through me. People don’t understand our relationship and he’s starting to notice we’re different. I’d never want to embarrass him.

I have to tell him. Not yet, though. Tonight I’ll just practice again, while he sleeps. I quietly whisper the scariest three words I’ll ever say. “I am imaginary.”

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Very well done, Jen. Powerful and moving. Are our dreams our best friends, or our heart’s only desire?
