Wish Granted

By Brie Beach

Motionless.

Or am I?

I try to move and discover that I am indeed frozen in place. Only then do I realize that my eyes are shut. I open them, glad my lids work. Why am I glued to this spot?

I look around, attempting to assess my situation and surroundings. Everything and everyone around me is frozen as well. Zero motion. Most unprecedented.

Suddenly my memory begins to thaw as I remember who and where I am. But what is happening? A vague recollection permeates the edges of my consciousness. I had wished for time to stop.

Well, what now?

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

A clever twist here. This story begs to be explored more…perhaps a novel down the line? I’d love to read it if you choose to create it in the future! Great job.

    Very clever.
Brie I returned from break, caught up on my reading too late to comment on your earlier stories. I wish to endorse the previous comments of the others. Keep up the good work.

A nice little story to remind us to be careful what we wish for–we just might get it! Nice job.
