Witch

March 22, 2025 4 Comments

By L.F. Shelly

We took what we wanted, whenever we wanted. Drunk on magic’s power, we laughed, drank dark wine, and boasted of our triumphs. At night, we danced skyclad, worshiping our gods with fierce devotion. We never thought of yesterday or dreamed of tomorrow. Those were the days.

Now, I stand alone, the last of my kind. Their eyes are filled with fear and hatred. Children hide behind their mothers’ skirts; fathers spit and curse, desperate to rid the land of us.

With my spells and potions, I leave the town behind, the stench of the burned maiden still fresh in my nose.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Agree with Jo that this could be expanded into a novel
