Danny liked growing the beard, even if his wife hated it. His cheeks looked fuller, with flecks of white that truly surprised him. For the first time, Danny could look in the mirror and not recognize this person. Danny laughed with delight at this. It was…wonderful.
At 2:37 a.m., with his wife and daughters asleep all snug in their beds, Danny could go into the bathroom and stare into the mirror. “Who is this stranger?” he wondered. “Where did he come from? What does he want? What is he capable of?” Danny had no idea.
And he wasn’t laughing anymore.
An interesting spin on The Evil Men Do, or the spit personalities lingering in our souls.
Wonderful take!
