Worship

By Phillip J Cogger

Nothing except real aliens would put Sam off his morning bowl of Solar Crunch. So when they came, he dropped his spoon and looked up. Little humanoids bled green, pink and blue sweetness in his milk.

The sky swarmed with iridescent almond-shaped craft. He ran to his porch and screamed, “Take me!” For thirty seconds he watched them ignore him. He sank as the last one left, carrying a hobo unqualified for space.

He sat for an hour in silence, his chin sticky with milk. Finally, deciding it was time for a new faith, he hung a cross round his neck.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Interesting, Phillip. We’ll find out, I imagine, whether Sam is qualified for his new faith. Maybe, he can buy some Communion Crunchies. Jerry
