You Know Her

August 29, 2020 9 Comments

By Carol J Wechsler Blatter

You know her, the woman with the shabby, shaggy hair rapidly growing down the nape of her neck, curling, refusing to stay flat, as her hair grays more each day with some dark strands still peeking out. You know her, she’s getting paler and sadder. You know her. She stopped wearing lipstick and rouge, why bother? She’s isolated, it’s the coronavirus, no reason to be noticed. You know her, she’s wearing the same schleppy non-sexy clothes each day, sweat pants or jeans, oversized polo shirts, sweaters. You know her. You see her in your mirror and wonder who she has become.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Well told. I think the only antidote to what “she” and many of us feel is a new direction. We need to vote for change.

There is something about perfection in this story, Carol.
I feel it and know it — and love what you have created.
