The cold against Michelle’s face penetrated through her delicate skin. She couldn’t see through the snow teeming down from the open sky. If only she had walked through town instead of the forest. With numb feet and hands, and throbbing ears, there was a good chance she had frostbite. She forgot her cell phone on the kitchen table, but reception would be unlikely. She couldn’t go on any longer. She was out of breath and fatigued. She longed for a warm fireplace.
Michelle snuggled against a tree and leaned back. She closed her eyes and drifted off into a deep sleep.
